Library Tour
Our library is divided into several different sections.
Christian Living books are ones that speak to our faith or teach us something about God. One very enjoyable and readable author we have in this section is Max Lucado.
We have a few Apologetics books. These are books designed to argue for or justify Jesus or God. Basically our faith. One excellent example in this section is ‘A Person of Interest’. In this book an American Detective, who specializes in cold cases, has investigated Jesus, with the main intention of finding that he was just a man and not important. He sets up the book with a parallel investigation of a real cold case murder. It is fascinating to see just how important Jesus is in the history and future of this world.
Our Reference section holds several bibles of different translations, and many factual books.
The Family section has some books on parenting from a Christian perspective.
Devotionals are set up for a bible reading and accompanying thoughts each day of the year. I love ‘Jesus Calling’ as it is written as if Jesus is talking to you. It has really helped me connect more with Jesus, rather than just the Father. This may not be the best for our challenge because of the time frame, but it is a great faith building book.
The Humour section contains some more light-hearted choices including ‘Laugh Like a Kid Again’ This author is featured on Back the to Bible, a program on Faith FM radio station.
We have a Prayer section and a small section on Biographies. There are some very interesting books here including The Faith of Queen Elizabeth
We have a few books in our Women and Men section – take a look, as well as some gems in the Other Section, including books on animals.
The Fiction section has really grown with many brand new books and series. One of my picks in ‘The Shack’. Although this is a fictional story (and a very good movie), it really helped me think about the Holy Trinity and how they look in my life. Sooo good.!!
The last shelves are for Teens, Older Children and Children. These sections are starting to grow as well. There are some great story books to read to little ones and I’m hoping that our Youth group will make use of the Teen section.
Over the next little while, I hope you will look over the books and perhaps try one. Just take the card out of the back, fill it out with your name and the date you took it out (even though it says due date) and place it in the small box.
If you have any requests for authors, titles or types of books, there is a clipboard on the side of the library for you to write your ideas.
